A guided walk in the Jewish ghetto of Rome

This field trip will consist in a guided walk, lead by a professional guide, within and around the Jewish Ghetto of Rome, with its complex variety of history, architecture and traditions.
From Castel Sant’Angelo, way through Via dei Banchi Vecchi, Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Farnese  and Piazzetta Mattei in the very hearth of Rome. This trip will display one of the most fascinating areas of Rome, one with the highest number of examples of Roman and Medieval architecture that still stand in Rome. After the trip, participants can decide to stop in the ghetto for a dinner in a traditional Roman Jewish “Trattoria”, at their own expenses.

Post-industrial urban transformations

Visit to the new Architecture Department of the Roma Tre University and the Testaccio neighbourhood

This field trip will consist in an academic event and a visit, lead by Prof. Lucia Martincigh, to the Roma Tre Architecture Department, recently renovated in the area of the former Rome slaughterhouse (Mattatoio Testaccio). The visit will also include relevant spots in the Testaccio neighborhood (e.g., the Monte dei Cocci, an ancient Roman artificial mound composed by fragments of broken amphorae, the a-catholic cemetery, and the Piramide Cestia). After the trip, participants can decide to stop in Testaccio, one of the last remaining popular neighborhoods in Rome, for a dinner in a traditional Roman “Trattoria”, at their own expenses.

Immersing senses in nature and history

Visit to the City of Subiaco and the Monti Simbruini Regional Natural Park

This field trip will consist in an extraordinary experience of contact with nature, culture and spirituality in the surrounding of Rome. We will spend half a day in a refreshing nature setting of the Monti Simbruini Natural Park, visiting the famous monasteries founded by Saint Benedict in the Subiaco valley in the VI Century (around the year 500), participating in a meditative mini-workshop by Dr. Marcin Fabjański, which aims at providing a mindful experience of breaking barriers between humans and nature.

Cobragor | Field Trips | 25th IAPS Conference

Sustainable urban agriculture and social inclusion the city

The Cobragor cooperative

This field trip will consist in a visit to the organic farm of the Cooperative Cobragor, an historical initiative of sustainable urban agriculture in Rome. Cobragor has been active since the ‘70s to recovery abandoned public land and to actively promote sustainable and alternative ways of living and active citizenship. The visit will also include a refreshment and a tasting of local food products, and the possibility to buy the cooperative products (olive oil, vegetables, fruit, jams, cookies, bread, etc.). A small contribution of eur 10 is requested to participants, to partly cover the transportation expenses.
